Carol Juanita Vance Swanger, age 76, of Powdermill Creek Road in Newland passed away on Friday, June 19, 2015 at home following an extended illness.Born on March 30, 1939 in Prince William, VA, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence Douglas and Gertie Mae Thomas Vance.Her greatest joy in life was her great grandchildren. She was a member of the White Sulfur Spings United Methodist Church in White Sulfur Springs, VA.Left to cherish her memories are her daughters; Nita Perry of Elk Park and Domita Houston and husband, Randy of Newland; her sons; Michael Hilton and wife, Judy of Catawba, NC and James Swanger of Elk Park; her grandson; Cam Large and wife, Mandy of Newland; her great grandchildren; Dallas and Codie Large of Newland; several nieces, nephews, and cousins survive.No services are planned.Words of comfort may be e-mailed to the family by going to our website; www.webbfh.com., selecting Mrs. Swanger’s name and then you may sign her guestbook. My memory of Carol is of her being a aid on my school bus when I was in middle school. She was always loving, caring and understanding. She would always ask me how my day was in school. She always made me laugh and smile when I was having a bad day. I will miss her, but I will never forget her. RIP Mrs. Carol.
