Elizabeth T. ‘Mama Lib’ Woody, age 87, of Jack Sullins Road in Spruce Pine went to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 29, 2017 at Blue Ridge Regional hospital in Spruce Pine.Born on May 1, 1930 in Mitchell County, she was the last surviving child of the late Millard and Cora Davis Townsend. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Frank Woody who passed away in 2013 and was also preceded in death by a son, John Woody who passed away in 2012.Elizabeth was a member of the Bear Creek Baptist Church. She loved the Lord and her church family. She was adventurous, had a unique laugh and enjoyed traveling. She loved cooking and had written two cookbooks. She also loved spending time with her family.Left to cherish her memories are her son; Jerry S. Woody and wife, Linda of Fernadina Beach, FL; her daughters; Mary Khayat of Spruce Pine and Deborah Conley and husband, Patrick of Las Vegas, NV; her daughter-in-law; Ruby Leetta Woody of Akron, OH; there are nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence at the funeral service celebrating the life of Elizabeth Woody on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 3:30 pm at the Bear Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Bruce Cannon officiating. A time to support the family, share memories and receive friends will be on Saturday, November 4, 2017 from 2:00 pm until 3:30 at the church.
