Emmett Earl Herman, age 80, of Dallas, NC died peacefully on Saturday, July 11, 2015 in West Jefferson, NC following an extended illness.Born on August 14, 1934 in Gastonia, NC and raised Maiden, NC, he was the son of the late Emmette Earl and Cloie Cline Herman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister; Katherine; and his brothers; Bandy, Frank, and Mack.He graduated from Maiden High School and attended Lenoir Rhyne College studying business. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Wasp. Earl had a long and successful career in the industrial supply industry working with Herman Products for twenty-five years before starting his own company, A A Supplies. He serviced Gaston and surrounding counties for twenty years. Earl’s true passion was serving Rankin Lake Baptist Church where he served as a Sunday School teacher, bus driver, singing in the choir, cooking and frequently performing all at the same time.Left to cherish his memories are his wife of fifty-five years; Edna McKinney Herman; his son; Grady Herman and wife, Phyllis of Dallas, NC; his daughter; Melody Rector and husband, Tim of West Jefferson, NC; his grandchildren; Chloe and Collins Herman of Bessemer City, NC and Grady and Ava Rector of West Jefferson, NC; his sister; Vera Lou Herman Hovis of Lincolnton, NC; many nieces and nephews; and friends spanning multiple generations.The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence at the funeral service honoring the life of Earl Herman on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Webb Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Burnette Cemetery.In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to either; Hospice of Gaston County, P.O.
