Gladys B. Duncan

Gladys Buchanan Duncan, age 94, of Duncan Drive in Bakersville, the Bear Creek community, died Monday, April 4, 2016 at Blue Ridge Regional hospital in Spruce Pine.Born on February 19, 1922 in Mitchell County, she was the daughter of the late Will and Vina Sullins Buchanan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Holden Duncan who passed away in 1986. She was also preceded in death by her brothers; Brown, George, and Harold Buchanan and her sisters; Bessie Murdock and Ilene Sparks.Gladys loved spending time with her family and friends and enjoyed having them in her home. She enjoyed sitting on her porch, ceramics, crocheting and cooking.Left to cherish her memories are daughters; Linda Edwards and husband, John of Bakersville and Amy Hollifield of Bakersville; her granddaughter; Anthea Biddix and husband, Justin of Bakersville; her great granddaughter Aubree Biddix of Bakersville; several nieces and nephews.The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence at the funeral service honoring the life of Gladys Duncan on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at 2:00 pm at the Bear Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Homer Murdock, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow on the Bear Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
