Helen Blackledge

Helen Blackledge, age 94, of Elm Street in Spruce Pine died Monday, July 11, 2016 at Brian Center Health and Rehab in Spruce Pine.Born on November 7, 1921 in Avery County, she was the daughter of the late Lum and Martha Mayberry Pritchard. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Marion Edward Blackledge who passed away in 1995. She was also preceded in death by a son, Jack Edward Blackledge.Helen loved to play the guitar and sing. She was also a songwriter and poet. She was very family oriented and was always there for her family when they needed her.Left to cherish her memories are her sister; Juanita, as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and other family members.The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence at the funeral service honoring the life of Helen Blackledge on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at 2:00 pm at the Cranberry Baptist Church. A time to support the family, share memories and receive friends will be on Saturday, July 23, 2016 from 1:00 pm until the service hour at the church.
