Howard Silver, age 94, of Cleve Silvers Road in Bakersville, the Bandana community, died Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at his home.Born on December 27, 1922 in Mitchell County, he was the son of the late Cleve and Mamie Buchanan Silver. His brothers Lucian, Charles, Ray, Claude, and Brown Silver and his sisters; Revia Buchanan and Kate Byrd, as well as his wife of 64 years, JoAnn Buchanan Silver, all preceded him in death.Howard was an active member of the Silver Chapel Baptist Church and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He will be remembered as a man that enjoyed talking, telling tales, and cutting up with family, friends, and acquaintances. He was a master brick mason and is responsible for numerous area homes. He made many wonderful friends through golfing and camping and was widely known for his meticulous lawn and garden care but his greatest joy was spending time with family, especially his granddaughters and great grandsons.Left to cherish his memories are his daughter; June Cornett and husband, Alfred of Hendersonville; his son; Tim Silver and wife, Dru of Bristol, TN; his sister; Bernice Howell of Bakersville; three granddaughters, two step grandchildren, three great grandsons, eight step great grandchildren, and four step great great grandchildren.The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence at the funeral service honoring the life of Howard Silver on Sunday, December 10, 2017 at 3:00 pm in the Chapel of Webb Funeral home with the Rev. Jonothan Thacker officiating. A time to support the family, share memories and receive friends will be on Sunday, December 10, 2017 from 2:00 pm in the parlor of Webb Funeral Home until the service hour.
