Rev. Jeremy Smiley, Sr., age 42, of Cardinal Lane in Spruce Pine, died Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at the St. Joseph’s Campus of Mission Hospitals in Asheville.Born on June 22, 1974 in Haywood County, he was the son of the late Danny E. Smiley and Donna Smiley Stewart.Jeremy was a loving husband and father and precious son. He loved the Lord and his church. He pastored the East Marion Pentecostal Holiness Church for one year and had evangelized for five years. He had a heart for those in need and gave his life to helping others. He trusted God to meet his needs and was a caring and thoughtful person that never met a stranger. He was funny, outgoing, and forgiving.Left to cherish his memories are his mother; Donna Smiley Stewart of Spruce Pine; his daughters; Samantha Dawn Smiley and Elizabeth Paige Smiley both of Spruce Pine; his son; Jeremy Lee Smiley, Jr. of Spruce Pine; his sister; Gretchen Paige Smith and husband, Joseph of Murfreesboro, TN; his brothers; Danny E. Smiley, Jr. and wife, Tanya of Augusta, KS; and Derrick Smiley of Shelby; the mother of his children; Kelly Smiley of Spruce Pine; one niece; three nephews; and one great nephew.The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence at the funeral service honoring the life of Rev. Jeremy Smiley, Sr. on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at 12:00 noon in the Chapel of Webb Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Adkins officiating. A time to support the family, share memories and receive friends will be on Saturday, November 12, 2016 from 11:00 am until the service hour in the funeral home chapel. To the family: Saddened to hear the news of Brother Smiley's passing. He one person that I can say that it was an honor to meet this precious man of God. Saddened that will not be able to attend funeral due to health. Our prayers are for all.
To Donna and all the family, I am so sorry for your loss. I know how it feels to lose your child. May God give you and your family strength through this time of grief. I will never forget the good times Jeremy and all of us had at Spruce Pine Church of God. He will be missed by all.
