Joyce Harding, age 84, of Duck Branch Road in Bakersville, went to be with her Lord, Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals in Asheville.Born on July 21, 1932 in Mitchell County, she was the daughter of the late Robert Lee and Ethel Davis Greene. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her son-in-law; Bill McKinney.Joyce was very active in church work and community affairs. She was the pianist at Mine Creek Baptist Church for many years and also at the Bakersville United Methodist Church for thirteen years. She was also the pianist for the Golden Age Singers and they sang at various nursing homes and other community functions. She loved needlework, quilting, crocheting, and knitting. Most of all, she loved reading the Bible. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles, flowers, and attending the Mitchell County Senior Center in Ledger. Joyce had attended Lees-McRae College and graduated from Pack Square Beauty School in Asheville.Left to cherish her memories are her husband of sixty-two years; Homer Harding of the home; her daughter; Yvonne Sherri McKinney of Bakersville; her son; David Keith Harding and wife, Barbara of Micaville; five grandchildren; Amanda M. Campbell and husband, Jason; Shonda M Riddle and husband, Josh; Erica M. Young and husband, Bryson; Ryan Nichols; and Cara Rose M. Cook and husband, Kasey; her great grandchildren; Harper and Aven Campbell; Stacy Jade; Adison and Deven Riddle; Jonah and Sawyer Cook; and Asher Roan Young.The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence at the funeral service honoring the life of Joyce Harding on Friday, April 28, 2017 at 2:00 pm at the Mine Creek Baptist Church with the Rev’s. Chris Rathbone and Lewis Woodard officiating. A time to support the family, share memories and receive friends will be on Friday, April 28, 2017 from 1:00 pm until the service hour at the church.
