Juanita Boone

Amanda “Juanita” Greene Boone, age 86, of Spruce Pine, died Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at the Blue Ridge Regional Hospital in Spruce Pine. Juanita Boone was born on December 9, 1927 in Mitchell County. She was the daughter of the late William “Bill” L. and Mae Greene. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arby Boone. Juanita grew up as a member of First Baptist Church and enjoyed reading and cooking for her family. She spent many years as a librarian. Juanita Boone leaves behind her daughter; Deborah Boone of Spruce Pine; two sisters; Bette Greene Dale, and husband John, and Billie Mae Silvers and husband L.D., both of Spruce Pine; a brother, Charles Greene and wife Lily, of Kings Mtn., NC and many nieces and nephews. The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence at the memorial service honoring the life of Juanita Boone at 3:00 pm on Saturday, March 22, 2014 in the Chapel of Webb Funeral Home. A time to receive friends and share memories and support the family will be held from 2:00 pm until the hour of the service. The family asked in lieu of flowers donations be made in Juanita Boone’s name to the Spruce Pine Library or “The Friends of the Library” located at 142 Walnut Ave., Spruce Pine, NC 28777.
