Keith Ray ‘Smiley’ Woody, age 62 of Dale Road in Spruce Pine traveled to his heavenly home on Thursday, December 15, 2016.A native of Mitchell County, he was the son of the late Frank and Ruth Anna Brown Woody. Keith was a member of the Grassy Creek Baptist Church. Keith was a graduate of the Class of 1972 from Harris High School, where he drove a school bus and gained the nickname, ‘Smiley.’After graduation he worked at Henredon Furniture and Ethan Allen furniture both in Spruce Pine. He was a retired member of Parkway Fire and Rescue. He was a Master Wood Crafter, who kept the family woodworking tradition alive. He learned his woodworking craft from his father, Frank and his uncles; Arvil, Walter, and Paul.Left to cherish his memories are his aunts; Peggy and Ruth Brown both of Newland; cousins; Joyce and Robert Johnson and daughter, Whitney of Athens, GA; Rhonda and Larry Bledsoe of Marion; Cheryl and Buck Buchanan of Plumtree; Jimmy Woody of Spruce Pine and Art Woody of New Port News, VA; Jerry and Peggy Brown and Robert Allen Brown and Whitney and Jacob all of Newland; Meagan and Zach Trescott of Grassy Creek; Joe Siffri of Atlanta, GA; Alexandra Siffri Smith of Atlanta, GA and Paul Siffri of Greenville, SC; Sharisse Clawson of Newland; Karen, Mashanda, Jameson, and Dalton Brown of Newland; and Jessie and Caleb White; very special friend who was as close as a brother, David Shuford and wife, Joann; and a very close friend, Linda Medford.The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence at the graveside service and interment honoring the life of Keith Woody on Monday, December 19, 2016 at 11:00 am at the Grassy Creek Memorial Gardens. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 pm on Monday, December 19, 2016 at 2:00 pm at the Grassy Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Greg Hollifield officiating.
