Lena Belle Buchanan

Lena Belle Buchanan, age 93, of Phillips Lane in Spruce Pine died Saturday, June 13, 2015 at Brookside Rehabilitation and Care in Burnsville.Born on April 10, 1922 in Telford, TN, she was the daughter of the late Taylor and Mamie Gurley Stafford and wife of the late Brown Buchanan who passed away in 1997. She was also preceded in death her brothers; Guy, Howard, and James Stafford and her sister; Helen Winger.Lena Belle was a member of the Pine Branch Baptist Church. She was a member of the Church Choir, W.M.U. and community outreach program and she was a volunteer for the Red Cross blood mobile. She enjoyed cooking and gardening.Left to cherish her memories are her daughter; Janice Wilson and husband, Roger of Cambridge, Ontario, Canada; her granddaughter; Audra Lewis and husband, Daniel of Eagle, CO; her grandson; Taylor Wilson and wife, Natalie of Whistler, British Columbia, Canada; her great grandchildren; Owen and Ashlyn Lewis and Sidney and Cosmo Wilson; her brother; Ray Stafford and wife, Betty of Spruce Pine and her sister-in-law; Gladys Duncan of Bakersville; several nieces and nephews.The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence at the funeral service honoring the life of Lena Belle Buchanan on Thursday, June 18, 2015 at 2:00 pm at the Pine Branch Baptist Church with the Rev’s. Bobby Joe Greene and Steve Williams officiating. A time to receive friends and share memories and support the family will be from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm on Thursday, June 18, 2015 at the church.
