Margaret McKinney Waycaster, age 87, of Spruce Pine died Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at the Memorial Mission Campus in Asheville.Born on November 20, 1929 in Mitchell County, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Agnes Duncan McKinney. She was also preceded in death by her husband Lewis James Waycaster. She was also preceded in death by her son; David Waycaster, her daughter; Barbaras Robinson, and brothers; Gerald, Hugh and H.W. McKinney.Margaret was a member of the Berry Chapel Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and was a Sunday school and Bible school teacher. She was an active part of the “Busy Berries” and a dedicated participant of the Easter Drama “Living Lords Supper” for twenty years. She also sang with the Golden Age Singers who visited all the area nursing homes. She worked as a cook in the local hospital for over forty years. She loved cooking and taking care of her family and planting flowers. Margaret also loved to decorate cakes for special occasions and her favorite being “Just Because Cakes” for her family and friends.Left to cherish her memories are her son; Paul Waycaster and wife Sondra of Spruce Pine, a daughter; Elizabeth Wise and husband Gene of Spruce Pine, a very special niece; Evelyn English and husband Jerry of Spruce Pine, seven grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence at the funeral service of Margaret Waycaster at 4:00 pm on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at the Berry Chapel Baptist Church in Spruce Pine with the Revs. Steve Williams and Greg Hollifield officiating. A time to support the family, share memories and receive friends will be on Saturday, April 1, 2017 from 3:00pm until the service hour at the church.
