Mary Lou Boone Willis, age 92, of Hamburg Road in Bakersville died Thursday, September 20, 2018 at her home.Born on November 27, 1925 in Mitchell County, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Lela Sparks Boone. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Willis who passed away in 1995. She was also preceded in death by an infant son, Daniel Keith Willis; her brother, Harold Boone and her sisters, Faye Thompson and Helen Bartlett.Mary Lou was a member of the Bear Creek Baptist Church, had worked in the nursery for over forty years and was retired from the Mitchell County School System. She loved feeding birds and she was a homemaker that enjoyed gardening and flowers.Left to cherish her memories are her daughter; Patricia Beam and husband, Dean of Bakersville; her brother; Henry Boone and wife, Joyce of Spruce Pine; her sisters; Annie Mae Jarrett and husband, Frank Ray of Jacksonville, FL and Betty Jo Gordon of Johnson City, TN; her grandsons; Ashley Beam of Bakersville and Aaron Beam of Burnsville; her great grandchildren; Charles Andrew Beam, Benjamin Jarrett Beam, and Margaret Ann Beam.The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence at the funeral service honoring the life of Mary Lou Willis on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 11:00 am at the Bear Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Bruce Cannon officiating. A time to share memories, support the family and receive friends will be on Saturday, September 22, 2018 from 10:30 am until 11:00 am at the church.
