Nelle G. Buchanan

Nelle G. Buchanan, age 83, of Snow Creek Road in Bakersville went home to meet her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at the Memorial Hospital’s Owen Heart Center.Nelle was born on July 5, 1934 in Avery County, NC to Robert and Lora Buchanan McKinney. She was previously employed by Hampshire Hosiery in Spruce Pine. She was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church and was a supporter of the St. Jude Hospital for many years. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by three brothers; Russell, Arnold, and James McKinney; two sisters; Dorothy Watson and Patsy Hughes; and a son-in-law; Mike Miller. Nelle enjoyed growing plants and flowers, working jigsaw puzzles, and crossword puzzles, and watching Animal Planet.Left to cherish her memories are one son; Rick Buchanan of Boone; two daughters; Vickie Miller and Lisa Whorten both of Bakersville; four grandchildren; Charles Buchanan and wife, Jennifer; Misty Buchanan; Stormy Buchanan; and Jonathan Whorten; and five great grandchildren; Melanie, Autumn, Nathan, Oliver, and Duncan. She is also missed by her dogs; Sugar and Cloud.The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence at the funeral service honoring the life of Nelle Buchanan on Saturday, December 23, 2017 at 1:00 pm in the Chapel of Webb Funeral Home with the Rev. Kent Murphy officiating. A time to support the family, share memories and receive friends will be on Saturday, December 23, 2017 from 12:00 noon until the service hour in the funeral home chapel.
