Marvin Paul ‘Pete’ Jarrett, age 77, of Jarrett Farm Road in Bakersville, the Rebels Creek community, died Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at his home.Born on April 12, 1939 in Mitchell County, he was the son of the late Dan and Georgia Boone Jarrett. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a daughter, Marnita Hensley and a sister-in-law, Shelba Harris.Pete was a member of the Rebels Creek Baptist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was also a member of Vesper Lodge #554 A.F. & A.M. He was the owner of Mountaineer Hardscapes and Landscapes. He was a collector of Corvettes and enjoyed diving them and was a car show enthusiast.Left to cherish his memories are his wife of fifty-five years; Faye Ledford Jarrett of Bakersville; his daughter; Rhonda Allen of Bakersville; his sisters; Rita Stamey and husband, Douglas of Forest City; Peggy Teague and husband, Doug of Clemmons, NC; and Janie Hill and husband, Donnie of Roanoke, VA; his brothers-in-law; Hazen Ledford, Jr. of Bakersville and Mike Ledford of Burnsville; his grandchildren; Cortnie Hensley, Hazen Daniel Hensley, Zoe Allen, and Georgia Freeman; and his great grandchildren; Whitney, MacKenzie, Kylie, and Kadence Carpenter.The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence at the funeral service honoring the life of Pete Jarrett on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at 2:30 pm in the Chapel of Webb Funeral Home with the Rev’s. Shane Cassida, and Paul Silver officiating. A time to support the family, share memories and receive friends will be on Saturday, September 24, 2016 from 1:00 pm until the service hour in the funeral home chapel. Very sorry to learn of the passing of Pete. Had lost contact with Pete over the years we served together on the US Hancock CVA-19 S-1 supply department SK-3 from 1958-1961, what a great sailor and friend. Great memory's of my ship mate Pete Jarrett.
Faye and Rhonda, As you both know, I to have lots of memories of my dear friend Pete. We had lots of laughs when we worked together both at the Ford dealership and when I worked for him on Saturdays at his landscaping business. I've seen his temperament flare (never at me) lol, but sometimes at others. I would sorta set back and grin to myself, and while he was settling down, he'd give that half smile and make a comment!!! Pete was a guy that would help anyone and do anything for someone that was in need.While Bobby was sick, Pete had tree stumps removed around our place. After Bobby's passing he even brought gravel out for me as well as mulch already knowing we were needing this done. NEVER charged me a dime!!! That's the kind of friend I had. I was out of town during this time of Pete's passing and I'm so sorry I missed letting you both and the rest of the family know what a good friend I had.
R.I.P. Pete. I know you're healed and I can still remember that laugh.

Just learned today of Pete's passing. Was out of town but always sad to hear of losing another classmate .

I can see Dan laughing while Pete an I wrestle in the hay field - going up to the house and drinking the coldest water around from the spring - then years later watching Ronda walking in to Northwestern Bank in Greensboro wearing that little wide brim hat and Faye walking behind her like Ronda was a queen . Pete thanks for all the great memories . I have always loved the. Jarrett family and how they have shaped my life , from putting up hay , catching chickens , putting up tobacco, shelling corn, and listening to the Rebels Creek Quatet . God Bless you Faye and Ronda. High Cove, where I visit often, is a neighbor of Pete's, and he helped us with our early road building. He was always very helpful, with a twinkle in his eye and a wry comment. I've spent many hours sitting on top of a hill overlooking his beautiful pastures, marveling at the white cows against the lush green grass and admiring the mowing patterns. My last memories of Pete are passing him on Rebel's Creek Rd where he would always raise a hand and wave. Good man. He will be missed. Condolences and blessings to his family.
