Raymond George Griffin

Ramie Griffin, age 52, of Irish Street in Newton died Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at his home. Born on September 3, 1963 in Washington County, TN, he was the son of the late Bunny and Mary Elizabeth Hollifield Griffin.Ramie was retired from the North Carolina Highway Patrol with thirty years of service. He was a member of the Order of Long Leaf Pine, had served in the Executive Protection division, and was appointed as a Kentucky Colonel. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, water, and he loved North Carolina.Left to cherish his memories are his sister; Karen Griffin and significant other, Matthew Coffey of Blowing Rock; his uncle; Tommy Hollifield and wife, Lillian of Spruce Pine; his aunt; Hilda Hollifield of Little Switzerland; his cousin; Susan Hollifield of Spruce Pine; his fiancé’; Sarah A. Steele of Newton and her children; Logan M. Steele and Lauren M. Steele; and many other family members and friends.The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence at the funeral service honoring the life of Ramie Griffin on Friday, April 22, 2016 at 3:00 pm in the Chapel of Webb Funeral Home. A time to support the family, share memories and receive friends will be on Friday, April 22, 2016 from 1:00 pm until the service hour in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in the Burnette Cemetery with honors provided by the North Carolina Highway Patrol Honor Guard.Serving as pall bearers will be members of the North Carolina Highway Patrol and Logan Steele.
