Roger Lee Burnette Sr.

Roger Lee Burnette, Sr., age 70, of McKinney Mine Road in Spruce Pine, the Little Switzerland community, died Monday, April 14, 2014 at the St. Joseph’s campus of Mission Hospitals in Asheville. He was born on March 22, 1944 to the late Harley Burnette and Daisy McKinney Burnette. In addition to his father; he was also preceded in death by a brother; Harley Burnette, Jr. Roger was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a member of the Chestnut Grove Baptist Church. His family was his whole life and his life revolved around them. He enjoyed traveling and camping. Roger was very proud to have served his country in the U.S. Army. Roger Burnette, Sr. leaves behind his wife of forty-nine years; Faye Diles Burnette of Little Switzerland; his mother; Daisy McKinney Burnette of Little Switzerland; his daughters; Kathy Bolick and husband, Doug of Granite Falls and Linda Whitener and husband, Jerry of Hickory; his son; Roger Burnette, Jr. and wife, Tina of Little Switzerland; his brothers; Jimmy Burnette of Little Switzerland; and Roger Adkins of Pikeville, KY; and his grandchildren; Keaton(Paws Buddy), Crystal, Nia, Garrett, Daisy, and Sarah. The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence at the funeral service honoring the life of Mr. Roger Burnette at 2:00 pm on Friday, April 18, 2014 at the Chestnut Grove Baptist Church with the Rev’s. Greg Burnette and Homer Murdock, Jr. officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service with military honors. A time to receive friends and share memories and support the family will be from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Thursday, April 17, 2014 at Webb Funeral Home. Honoring the life of Roger Burnette serving as pallbearers will be; Roger Adkins, Danny Hollifield, Keaton Bolick, Garrett Burnette, Doug Bolick, and Jerry Whitener.
