Roger S. Wiseman Sr.

Roger Samuel Wiseman, Sr., age 66, of Sullins Branch Road in Spruce Pine died Friday, April 17, 2015 at his home.Born on September 5, 1948 in Mitchell County, he was the son of the late Roy and Annie Sullins Wiseman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers; Bill and Jerry Wiseman and his sister; Betty Wiseman Grindstaff. He was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church.Roger was an avid bear hunter. At age eleven he killed his first bear. News of that kill traveled around the world. In addition to bear hunting, he enjoyed fox hunting as well. He also enjoyed raising chickens. He loved the Lord and his church, his children and grandchildren. He liked babysitting his grandchildren and kept them out of trouble. He always arrived for church services an hour before anyone else.Left to cherish his memories are his wife; Carol Wiseman of Spruce Pine; his sons; Junior Wiseman and wife, Kristy; Chris Wiseman and Cody Ledford all of Spruce Pine; his daughters; Angie Rhinecker and husband, Richard and Stephanie Willis and husband, Jerry all of Bakersville; Crystal Main and husband, Charles and Cathy Wiseman all of Spruce Pine; his brother; Donald Wiseman of Engelhard, NC; and eleven grandchildren.The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence at the funeral service celebrating the life of Roger Wiseman, Sr. on Sunday, April 19, 2015 at 3:00 pm at the New Hope Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Beam officiating. Interment will follow in the Sullins Cemetery.
