Amanda Sparks McKinney, age 36, of Old Little Switzerland Road in Marion died Wednesday, April 19, 2017.Born on November 14, 1980 in Avery County, she was the daughter of Ricky and Diane Hicks Sparks. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Dennis Sparks and her maternal grandfather, Carl Hicks.Amanda was a member of the Spruce Pine Christian Church. The main focus of her life was her son, Cameron. She was an adventuresome person that enjoyed camping and fishing. She was an animal lover and she particularly loved her dog, Browny. She also enjoyed riding four wheelers and motorcycles. She was an honor student and was the captain of the Mitchell High School Cheerleaders.Left to cherish her memories are her Father and Mother, Ricky and Diane Hicks Sparks of Spruce Pine; her fiancée’, Carl Harrell of Marion; her son, Cameron McKinney of Marion; her sister; Tiffany Sparks of Asheville; her paternal grandmother, Barbara Sparks of Elk Park; her maternal grandmother, Lou Ella Hicks of Morganton; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence at the funeral service for Amanda McKinney on Sunday, April 23, 2017 at 3:00 pm at the Spruce Pine Christian Church with the Preacher Phil Moody officiating. A time to support the family, share memories and receive friends will be on Sunday, April 23, 2017 from 2:00 pm until the service hour at the church. She is in Heaven now watching over her family and loved ones especially her son Cameron which was her world,her everything,as well as her mother and father.I send my sympathy to all her loved ones.
