Barbara Carpenter

Barbara Watson Carpenter, age 80, of Carpenter Island Road in Spruce Pine died Saturday, December 23, 2017 at Blue Ridge Regional Hospital in Spruce Pine.Born on August 30, 1937 in Avery County, she was the daughter of the late Elbert and Lizzie Dellinger Watson. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Carpenter, Jr. who passed away in 2006. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Bruce Watson.Barbara will be remembered for being a caregiver to others. She enjoyed spending time with her family and her children and grandchildren were her life. She also enjoyed taking walks, her flowers, and canning. She loved going to church and listening to gospel music. Left to cherish her memories are her sons; Danny Carpenter and Calvin Carpenter and wife, JoAnn of Spruce Pine; her daughters; Elizabeth Wright and husband, David and Doris Watts of Spruce Pine; her brothers; Dana, Ronnie, and Astor; her sister; Ada, Ruth, Lina, Nancy, and Linda; special friends; Monica McCool and Mary Carpenter; six grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence at the funeral service honoring the life of Barbara Carpenter on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at 2:00 pm at the Berry Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev’s. Steve Williams and Greg Hollifield officiating. A time to support the family, share memories and receive friends will be on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at the Berry Chapel Baptist Church.
