Barbara Huskins

Barbara B. Huskins, age 89, of Spruce Pine, went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, August 4th, 2022 at the Spruce Pine Community Hospital. A native of Spruce Pine, she was the daughter of the late Plumber and Ruth Sparks Blevins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Huskins, who passed away in 1986; sister: Jean Blevins Johnson (Nils), brothers: Paul Fortner (Mary) and Bruce Blevins (Margaret). Barbara was a long-time member of Pine Branch Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School Teacher, Vacation Bible School Director and worked with the Young Adults. She loved being part of her church family and serving in the church. Barbara owned and operated a ladies’ clothing store for over 20 years named Barbara’s Shop where she had the opportunity to make many friends.Surviving is her sons: Ken Huskins and wife, Annette, of Spruce Pine and Keith Huskins and wife, Janet, of Bermuda Run, NC; and granddaughter: Alexandra Huskins Sheehan and her husband Chris.Funeral services will be held at Pine Branch Baptist Church on Sunday, August 7th with visitation at 2 p.m. followed by the service at 3 p.m. Rev. Steve Williams and Rev. Bobby Greene will officiate.
