Betty McClure

Betty Hanson McClure, age 93, of Crabtree Road in Spruce Pine, passed away on Friday, December 25, 2020 at the Mitchell House in Spruce Pine.Born on May 30, 1927 in McIntosh County, GA, she was the daughter of the late Donald and Erma Story Hanson. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband Daniel W. McClure, Sr. and a grandson, Matthew Draughn.Betty was a member of the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church and she taught school in Florida for thirteen years. She was a graduate of Martin High School in Stuart, Fl and also a graduate of Florida State University. She enjoyed cake decorating, painting, working with ceramics, cooking, and gardening.Left to cherish her memories are her daughters; Betty Ann M. Draughn and husband, John of Hendersonville and Linda Peck and husband, Robert of Denton, TX; her son; Daniel W. McClure, Jr. and wife; Judy McClure of Spruce Pine; there are ten grandchildren.Burial will be in the Burnette Cemetery. A service honoring Mrs. McClure will be planned for the spring of 2021 and announced when finalized.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to; Gideon’s, P.O.
