Bobby Lee Carpenter

SFC Bobby Lee Carpenter, US Army (RET) age 73 of Spruce Pine the Green Valley community passed away Monday January 3, 2022 at Mission Hospital in Asheville.Born in Avery County, NC he was a son of the late Carl and Maude Shook Carpenter. Bobby served his country in the United States Army were he retired after serving 30 years. He also worked for Henredon Furniture and after it closed he worked on the maintenance crew on the Blue Ridge Parkway where he would go to the Linville Falls picnic area and find someone to talk to. He was a member of Mt. Calvary Freewill Baptist Church where he served on the trustee board. Bobby never met a stranger and was a friend to many. He was preceded in death by his brothers; Jack (Fox), Lloyd and Leroy Carpenter and two sisters; Dixie Burleson and Mary Hise.Left to cherish in his memory is his wife of 48 years Patsy Dellinger Carpenter of the home, his son; Steve Carpenter and wife Laura and daughters; Stephanie McClellan and husband Shane and Stacey Carver and husband Jeremiah all of Spruce Pine. His grandchildren in whom he loved dearly Emma and Andrew Carpenter, Alli McClellan and Reagan, Riley and Roan Carver. He is also survived by a brother; Lester Carpenter and two sisters; Margaret Carpenter and Lois Styles and a host of nieces, nephews and special friends.A time to support the family, share memories, and receive friends will be on Thursday, January 6, 2022 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm at Mt. Calvary Freewill Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 pm with the Rev’s. Jim Shoupe and Greg Hollifield officiating. Interment and military honors will be in the Harris Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Allen Laws officiating.In lieu of flowers the family ask that memorial donations be made to Mt.
