David Buchanan

David Walter Buchanan, age 72, of Fairway Lane in Spruce Pine died Thursday, December 19, 2019 at Brian Center Health & Rehab in Spruce Pine.Born on March 8, 1947 in Mitchell County, he was the son of the late Walter and Lois Willis Buchanan. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Judy Duncan Buchanan who passed away in 2017.David was a member of the Bear Creek Baptist Church, where he sang in the choir. He also was the director of the 5th Sunday Night Singing for many years. He loved singing and he enjoyed gospel and bluegrass music. He was a sports enthusiast and particularly enjoyed Mitchell Mountaineer football. Throughout his working career, he managed the produce department of several local grocery stores and ended his produce manager career at Galaxy Foods in Marion.Left to cherish his memories are his daughters; Michelle Buchanan and Jennifer Buchanan both of Winston Salem, NC; his sister; Margaret Myers of Hickory; and several other close family and friends.A memorial service to honor the life of David Buchanan will be on Saturday, January 18, 2019 at 2:00 pm at the Bear Creek Baptist Church with the Rev’s.
