Donald Lester Williams, age 77, of Hattie Williams Road in Spruce Pine, passed away Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at the Johnson City Medical Center in Johnson City, TN.Born on January 1, 1944 in Mitchell County, he was the son of the late Tom and Hattie Hollifield Williams. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brothers; Bob, Bill, Cliff, John, Guy, and Charlie Williams and his sister; Mary Good.Donald was a member of the Grassy Creek Baptist Church. He was known as a skilled carpenter. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed building bird houses and enjoyed baseball, football, and his favorite football was the Washington Redskins.Left to cherish his memory is his wife of thirty-seven years; Linda Kay Thompson Williams of the home; his son; Kevin Williams of Spruce Pine; his daughter; Christie McCurry and husband, Marty of Spruce Pine; his grandson; John McCurry; several nieces and nephews.A time to support the family, share memories, and receive friends will be on Sunday, October 24, 2021 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at the Grassy Creek Baptist Church. The funeral service will be on Sunday, October 24, 2021 at 2:00 pm at the Grassy Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Nathan Silver and Dr. Rocky Branch officiating.
