Donna Schavey

Donna Jean Schavey, age 80, of Ridge Crest Lane in Spruce Pine, the Grassy Creek community died Monday, September 12, 2016 at her home.Born on January 12, 1936 in Hobart, IN, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Myrna Schavey. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her sister; Patricia Schlitz and her brothers; Ronnie and Bill Campbell.Donna was retired from Tri-State University in Angola, IN where she served as Director of Housekeeping. She was an avid football fan and a lifelong Pittsburg Steelers fan. She wrote poetry and had a book of her poems published and also was an artist. She loved and was dedicated to her family.Left to cherish her memories are her son; Lloyd Shavey of Collinsville, AL; her granddaughter; Kimberly Crommer of Collinsville, AL; her grandson; Eric Thomas Schavey of Collinsville, AL; her sister; Carol Bates of Spruce Pine; her brothers; Bob Campbell and Rich Schavey both of Florida; special nephews; Harvey Bates of Bakersville and Michael Brown of Anchorage, Alaska ; and special niece; Patricia Gibbs of Long Pine, NE; and several other nieces and nephews.The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence at the graveside service honoring the life of Donna Schavey on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at 3:00 pm at the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Dale Buchanan officiating.
