Emma Lee Wilson

August 21, 1935 - April 7, 2022

Mrs. Emma Lee McCall Wilson, age 86, of Spruce Pine, passed away Thursday morning, April 7, 2022, at Rose Hill Retirement Community. She was born on August 21, 1935, in Mitchell County, a daughter of the late William Todd McCall and Ora Lee Phillips McCall. Emma Lee was preceded in death by three brothers, Jack McCall, Bill McCall, and Paul McCall. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Spruce Pine where she taught children’s Sunday School for over forty years. Emma Lee retired from Mitchell Savings and Loan after forty years of service. In retirement, she served in many capacities including working as a Hospice volunteer, substitute teaching, serving on the Avery-Mitchell-Yancey Library Board, a member of the Red Hat Society, and many other activities. She enjoyed celebrating any occasion with her family and friends. Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of sixty-six years; Bill Wilson; one daughter; Lisa Garland and husband, Keith; one granddaughter, Emily Miller and husband, Tanner; and one great-grandson, Reece Miller. Other beloved family members include Becky & Jerry Pitman; Pam Pitman; Steve & Chasity Pitman, Harper Pitman; Evelyn McCall; and several nieces and nephews. She also leaves many close friends who will sadly miss her. A time to support the family, and share memories, and receive friends will be from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm on Saturday, April 9, 2022, at First Baptist Church of Spruce Pine. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at First Baptist Church of Spruce Pine with Dr. Rocky Branch and Rev. Dean Honeycutt officiating. Entombment will follow in the Spruce Pine Memorial Cemetery Mausoleum. Emma Lee’s family & friends will serve as pallbearers.
