Maj. Franklyn Arthur Erhardt (US Army Ret) age 85 of Hwy 226 N. Spruce Pine passed away Wednesday June 1, 2022, at the Mission Memorial Hospital in Asheville. Born in Elba NY he was the son of the late Irving Arthur and Mabel Stocking Erhardt. He was preceded in death by his sisters; Elizabeth Erhardt, Virginia Harling and Joanne Roggow. Frank retired from the US Army after 40 years of service as an Airborne Ranger serving two tours in Vietnam. He also worked as a Comptroller at Fort Monroe in Hampton, VA. Frank loved playing golf and was a member of the Grassy Creek Golf & Country Club. Left to cherish his memories is his daughter; Lucy May of Newport News, VA, granddaughter; Amanda May, grandson; Brian May, great grandchildren; Isabella Richardson and Miles May, sisters; Dorothy Smith of FL and Gloria Gormly of Spruce Pine. He is also survived by many friends and family. A private gathering will be held at a later date.
