Harry Shook, age 81, of Windy Hill Drive in Spruce Pine, the Grassy Creek community, passed away on Monday, December 28, 2020 at his home.Born on February 11, 1939 in Avery County, he was the son of the late Charles and Ebbie Greene Shook. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Andrew Paul Shook and his brothers; Cecil ‘Rob’ Shook and Jack Shook; an infant brother, Joe Shook, and an infant sister, Mary Sue Shook.Harry was a member of the Berry Chapel Baptist Church and had served as a Sunday School Teacher and known as a great prayer warrior. He was a member of the Parkway Fire Department and was a fire fighting instructor. He was also a Veteran of the U.S. Army and was retired from Henredon Furniture after forty-two years of service. Harry enjoyed being with people, was always smiling and never met a stranger. He enjoyed life, telling jokes and having fun. In his spare time, he also enjoyed gardening.Left to cherish his memories are his wife of fifty years; Frances Smith Shook of the home; his daughters; Janet Shook and Judy Shook both of Spruce Pine; and his sisters; Barbara Buchanan and Alice Stamey both of Spruce Pine and Florence Dellinger and Betty Herbst both of Spear and his daughter-in-law; Dorina Shook of Maiden, NC.A time to support the family, share memories, and receive friends will be on Thursday, December 31, 2020 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at Berry Baptist Church. The funeral service will be on Thursday, December 31, 2020 at 11:00 am with the Rev. Steve Williams officiating. Interment will follow in the Berry Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to; Care Ministry, C/O Berry Chapel Baptist Church, P.O.
