Jack Dellinger, age 78, of Altapass Church of God Road in Spruce Pine went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at Blue Ridge Regional hospital in Spruce Pine.Born on December 29, 1940 in Avery County, he was the son of the late Charles and Fannie Ledford Dellinger.Until his retirement, Jack was an owner, along with his brother Tommy, of Dellinger’s Wholesale Nursery. He was a charter member of Mt. Calvary Freewill Baptist Church where he faithfully served as Chairman of the Deacons and Sunday School teacher. He loved his church and church family and had done many things over the years to ensure that his church and its members were taken care of. He also loved his family and particularly his grandchildren and spending time with them. He enjoyed traveling and listening to live bluegrass music by his great nephews, Devon and Donovan. Jack gave to everyone selflessly. He enjoyed doting on his family and spoiling them as much as possible.Left to cherish his memories are his wife of fifty-nine years; Jewel L. Dellinger of the home; his daughters; Karen Williams and husband, David of High Point, NC; Sandy Vaughn and husband, Sheldon of Spruce Pine; and Jackie Williams and husband, Larry of Charlotte, NC; his grandchildren; Hunter and Kelly Williams, Matthew and Michael Vaughn, and Lydia, Ava, and Seth Williams; niece Debbie Wiseman and husband Bill of Cumming, Georgia; his brothers; Tommy Dellinger and wife, Linda and Jimmy Dellinger and wife, Sylvia Dellinger all of Spruce Pine; his sisters; Joyce Dayton of Spruce Pine; Shirley Gragg and husband, Joe of Newland; Sue Spivey and husband, Joe of Weaverville and Patsy Carpenter and husband, Bobby of Spruce Pine; several nieces and nephews that were very special to Jack.The service to celebrate Jack home will be on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at 6:00 pm at Mt. Calvary Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev’s. Jim Shoupe and Nathan Silver officiating. A time to support the family, share memories, and receive friends will be on Saturday, June 1, 2019 from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm will be at the church. Interment will follow in the Harris Memorial Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to; Mt. Calvary Freewill Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. So Sorry to hear of your loss.
I was so shocked that Jack passed to heaven. I told Johnny Lowery he had not heard either so we missed the funeral but you are in our thoughts and if there is anything that would help please let us know. Kay Hollifield Oke
