Jack Dobson

Jack Dobson, age 85, of Rogers Street in Spruce Pine died Sunday, June 19, 2016 at Smokey Ridge Health and Rehab in Burnsville.Born on July 4, 1930 in McDowell County, he was the son of the late Joseph and Virginia Lonon Dobson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother; Jay Dobson and his sisters; Louise Dobson and Sandra Browning.Jack was a member of First Baptist Church of Spruce Pine and a member of Vesper Lodge #554 A.F. & A.M. He was retired from Wachovia Bank with forty-five years of service. Jack loved playing golf and had won the Rhododendron Golf Tournament in 1977 and 1978. He played minor league baseball and had played basketball and baseball for Berea College and for Pfeiffer College.Left to cherish his memories are his wife of sixty-two years; Cathy Dobson of Spruce Pine; his daughter; Jacque Deitz of Spruce Pine; his son; Chris Dobson of Marion; his grandson; Robert Jackson Deitz; his brothers; Roy Dobson, Tim Dobson, and Bob Dobson all of Marion; and Donald Dobson of Fort Thomas, KY.The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence at the memorial service honoring the life of Jack Dobson on Friday, June 24, 2016 at 11:00 am at First Baptist Church of Spruce Pine with Dr. Rocky Branch officiating. A time to support the family, share memories and receive friends will be on Friday, June 24, 2016 from 10:00 am until the service hour at the church.
