James Arlen Harmon, age 80, of Old Linville Road in Marion died Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at Deer Park Health and Rehab in Nebo.Born on July 23, 1939 in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Forest Harmon, Sr. and the late Elva Childers Harmon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Melba Jo Williams Harmon who passed away in 2013. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Eddie Harmon.Arlen was a member of the Grassy Creek Baptist Church and was retired from Jobst of Carolina in Rutherford College after twenty plus years of service. He loved his church and singing in the church choir. In his spare time, Arlen enjoyed fishing, hunting, reading the newspaper and cooking. He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.Left to cherish his memories are his daughter; Mindy Greer and husband, Tommy of Lenoir; his grandsons; Tyler Norville and wife, Brittany of Marion and Zack Greer and wife, Adessa of Morganton; his great grandchildren; Wyatt, Piper Jo, Alexus, and Chloe; and his brother-in-law; Ronald Williams and wife, Barbara of Spruce Pine.The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence at the funeral service for Arlen Harmon will be on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at 2:00 pm at the Grassy Creek Baptist Church with the Rev’s. Gene Self and Matt Mills officiating. A time to support the family, share memories and receive friends will be on Saturday, September 28, 2019 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at the church.
