Jean Hollifield

Jean Duncan Hollifield, age 77, of Bear Creek Road in Bakersville died Thursday, January 4, 2018 at Brian Center Health and Rehab in Spruce Pine.Born on May 10, 1940 in Mitchell County, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Lucy Smith Duncan. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles Hollifield who passed away in 2008. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Pauline Burleson.Jean was a member of the Bear Creek Baptist Church and was retired from Henredon Furniture with twenty-five years of service. She will be remembered for love of the being at the beach and in the sun. She enjoyed riding motorcycles, spending time with her family, and traveling.Left to cherish her memories are her daughters; Marquetia Garland and husband, Jerry of Spruce Pine and Anita Braswell and fiancé’, Roger Buchanan of Bakersville; her grandchildren; Becky Loftis and husband, Sam; Jared Garland and wife, Suzanne; Priscilla Mellon and husband, Nate; Michelle Franklin and husband, Chris; Nick Watson and fiancé’, McKenzie Ledford; her great grandchildren; Harlie Franklin, Hudson Franklin, Hendrix Franklin, and Erik Mellon; special friend, Donald Shuford; her sister; Norene McKinney of Spruce Pine; several nieces and nephews.The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence at the funeral service honoring the life of Jean Hollifield on Sunday, January 7, 2018 at 3:00 pm at the Bear Creek Baptist Church with the Rev’s. Bruce Cannon and William Ellis officiating. A time to support the family, share memories and receive friends will be on Sunday, January 7, 2018 from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm at Bear Creek Baptist Church.
