Jessie Love Canipe, age 88, of 437 Humpback Mountain Road in Spruce Pine died Saturday, December 10, 2016 at the Mitchell House in Spruce Pine.A native of Mitchell County, she was the daughter of the late Robert ‘Bud’ and Effie Ward Love. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of seventy-two years, Carroll E. Canipe and by her sister, Mary Lee Miller.Jessie was a member of the First Baptist Church of Spruce Pine and was a member of the kitchen committee and sang in the choir. She served thirty years on the Mitchell County Board of Elections and served as the Chairman for four years. She also received the Long Leaf Pine Award from the governor of North Carolina for her service on the state election board.Jessie was a loving Wife, Mother, Granny, and Great Granny. She enjoyed baking, bowling, shopping, and canning.Left to cherish her memories are her sons; Robert Canipe and wife, Gerry of Williamsburg, VA and Charles Canipe and wife, Brenda of Spruce Pine; her grandchildren; Barry Canipe and wife, Leslie of Victor, NY and their children, Rebecca, Elizabeth, and James; Tish Hudgins and husband, Ronnie of Gloucester, VA and their children, Brady and Matthew; Corey Canipe and wife, Lyndsey of Wirtz, VA and their children, Ryan and Riley; and Carey Canipe Presnell of Asheville, NC and her child, Shelby and her step grandson, William Carter of Spruce Pine.The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence at the funeral honoring the life of Jessie Canipe on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at 11:00 am at the First Baptist Church of Spruce Pine with Dr. Rocky Branch and Rev. Bob Balance officiating. A time to support the family, share memories and receive friends will be on Saturday, December 17, 2016 from 10:00 am until the service hour at the church.
