Jimmy Burnette, age 81, of McKinney Mine Road in Little Switzerland, passed away on March 10, 2021 at his home. Born on May 6, 1939 in Mitchell County, he was the son of the late Harley and Daisy McKinney Burnette. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers; Harley Burnette, Jr. and Roger Burnette. Jimmy was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a member of the Chestnut Grove Baptist Church. He was retired from Unimin. He was a mild mannered, good natured man. He loved his grandchildren. He enjoyed feeding birds and squirrels and his flowers. Left to cherish his memories are his daughters; Marsha Pitman and husband, Lodie of Spruce Pine and Lisa Cooke and husband, Monroe of Mountain City, TN; his grandchildren; David Wiseman, II, Justin Cooke, Chessnee Wiseman, Cassie Huskins; and Mindy Murphy; his great grandchildren; Makayla, Jada, Lakeisha, Adrian, Madison, Mason, Aubree, Haley, Colten, Mackenzie, Kylie, Jason, and Emily; his great great granddaughter; Aurora; several nieces and nephews. A time to support the family, share memories, and receive friends will be on Saturday, March 13, 2021 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Webb Funeral Home. The funeral service will be on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Webb Funeral Home with the Rev’s. Greg Burnette and Monroe Cooke officiating. Interment will be in the Burnette Cemetery. The family would like to extend a special ‘Thank You’ to the staff of Hospice and Palliative Care of the Blue Ridge for their care of Jimmy. Due to the current COVID-19 regulations, our staff is committed to taking care of our guests and families that we serve. Please understand we will be following the State’s COVID guidelines. We also ask all guests and family members attending the visitation and service to please bring and wear a mask at all times and maintain social distancing.
