Kathleen Smith, age 66, of Hamburg Road in Bakersville, the Bear Creek community, died Monday, August 8, 2016 at the John F. Keever Solace Center in Asheville.Born on October 27, 1949 in Avery County, she was the daughter of the late Earl Carver, Sr. and Kate Buchanan Carver. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson; Charles Robert Frye.Kathleen was a member of the Bear Creek Baptist Church and sang in the choir. She was retired from Spruce Pine Mica with thirty-eight years of service. She was a beloved Wife, Mother, and Grandmother that will be remembered as a ‘prayer warrior’. She loved giving to others and she enjoyed gardening, baking, and cooking.Left to cherish her memories are her husband of forty-eight years; Louie Smith of Bakersville; her daughters; Tammy Frye and husband, Charlie of Spruce Pine and Heidi Carpenter of Spruce Pine; her brothers; Jay Carver and wife, Lori of Bakersville and Doug Carver and wife, Sonya of Spruce Pine; her sister; Rosalie Gage and husband, Gary of Sharpsburg, GA; her grandchildren; Allison and Todd Street; her aunt; Norene Butler of Johnson City, TN, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence at the funeral service honoring the life of Kathleen Smith on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at 7:00 pm at the Bear Creek Baptist Church with the Rev’s. Bruce Cannon and Chris Rathbone officiating. A time to support the family, share memories and receive friends will be on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 from 5:30 pm until 7:00 pm at the church. Interment will follow in the Bear Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to; Tri-County Christian School Scholarship Fund, 207 Pinebridge Ave., Spruce Pine, NC 28777. The family would like to extend their heartfelt ‘Thanks’ to the staff of John F.
