Kay Edward Benton, age 90, of Dale Road in Spruce Pine, died Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at Brian Center Health & Rehab in Spruce Pine.Born on August 1, 1927 in Fairview, VA, he was the son of the late Ray and Adeline Reed Benton. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister.Kay was a Korean War veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Altapass Baptist Church and was retired from CSX Railroad with forty-five years of service. Kay will be remember for his work ethic and enjoyment of working. He also enjoyed being in the woods and hunting.His friends respectfully request the honor of your presence at the funeral service honoring the life of Kay Benton on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 3:00 pm at the Altapass Baptist Church with Dr. Marcus Benfield officiating. A time of support, sharing memories and receiving friends will be on Saturday, January 13, 2018 from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm at Altapass Baptist Church.
