Lois H. Gunter

Lois Houston Gunter, age 84, of Beaver Creek Road in Spruce Pine, died Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at Blue Ridge Regional Hospital in Spruce Pine.Born on April 26, 1936 in Avery County, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Wesley and Hettie Marcus Houston. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her sisters; Lillian Kelso and Zula Biddix; and her brothers; Bill, Jake, and Joe Houston.Lois was a member of the Beaver Creek Baptist Church and had career in cosmetology spanning five decades. She was a wonderful wife and mother. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading and working crossword puzzles.Left to cherish her memories are her husband of sixty-four years; Howard Gunter of the home; her daughters; Leigh Swann and husband, Steve of Matthews and Lynn Winkler and husband, Christopher of Hickory; her grandchildren; Andrew Swann, Lacey Swann, and Peyton Winkler; and her brother; Clay Houston and wife, Naomi of Newland.A time to support the family, share memories, and receive friends will be on Saturday, December 5, 2020 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am in the Chapel of Webb Funeral Home. The funeral service will be on Saturday, December 5, 2020 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Webb Funeral Home with the Rev's. Brandon Pitman and Ken Mashburn officiating.
