Maria Silver

September 8, 1930 - February 21, 2022

Maria Leimeister Silver, age 91, of Lower Hanging Rock Road in Spruce Pine, passed away Monday, February 21, 2022 at her home. Born on September 8, 1930 in Germany, she was the daughter of the late Christian and Anna Leimeister. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert David Silver who passed away in 2021. She was also preceded in death by her brothers; Carl and Alfred Leimeister. Maria was a naturalized US citizen immigrating to America with her husband in 1957. Maria was a member of the St. Lucien Catholic Church in Spruce Pine. She enjoyed attending the Senior Citizen Center of Mitchell County, making crafts, crocheting, socializing, talking on the phone and exercising. Left to cherish her memory are her sons; Alfred Silver of Spruce Pine and Alan Silver and wife, Michelle of Lexington, SC and her daughters; Elaine Silver, Angi Silver and husband Terry Hanser of Aberdeen, NC and Caroline McDonald and husband, Buddy of Dadeville. AL. Maria was the grandmother of seven children, Brandy Turner, Jessica Figueroa, Jacob Silver, Adam Silver, Rebecca Silver, Alli Silver and Carli Duncan and great grandmother of six children, Harper, Henry, Kai, Paisley, Hampton and Ada. Graveside services and burial will be Friday, March 11, 2022 at 2:00 pm at the Western Carolina Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain, NC.
