Marshall Staton

January 13, 1944 - May 4, 2022

David Marshall Staton, age 78, of Mountain View Road in Spruce Pine, passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at his home. Born on January 13, 1944 in Avery County, he was the son of the late Bernie and Edna McClellan Staton. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Beulah Greene Staton who passed away in 2017. Also preceding him in death was his sister; Dorothy Jean Ollis and his brothers; Russell and Ronald Staton. Marshall was a member of the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. He loved spending time with his great grandchildren. He also loved watching Gunsmoke on t.v. with his son. Left to cherish his memory is his sons; Richard Staton and wife, Donna of Spruce Pine and Brian Staton of Spruce Pine; his granddaughters; Stephanie Buchanan and husband, Bradly of Spruce Pine and Rachel LaPorte and husband, Nathan of Nashville, TN; his great grandchildren; Jade Buchanan and Rowan LaPorte; his brother; Ray Staton of Spruce Pine; several nieces and nephews. A time to support the family, share memories, and receive friends will be Saturday, May 7, 2022 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Webb Funeral Home. The memorial service will follow at 2:00 pm in the Chapel with Dr. Darrin Waldroup officiating.
