Mary Anderson

Mary DuBose Anderson, age 82, of Anderson, SC, died Sunday, June 30, 2019 at Brookdale Anderson in Anderson, SC.Born on January 18, 1937 in Shelby County, TN, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Ruby Overall DuBose. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Anderson. She was also preceded in death by her son, Samuel Anderson; her brothers; Warren, Bobby, and Dock Dubose; and her sisters; Margie Jamison and Dorothy Johnson.Mary was a member of the New Covenant Church in Anderson, SC and a former member of the Grassy Creek Presbyterian Church in Spruce Pine, NC. She was a graduate of Erskine College and was retired school teacher from the Anderson County school system. After retirement, she was a volunteer with Upstate Hospice. She enjoyed reading, working in her flowers, and hummingbirds. She loved spending time with her family and visiting the mountains of Western North Carolina and Mitchell County with her grandchildren . Left to cherish her memories are her daughter, Sara Elizabeth Wallace and husband, Larry of Piedmont, SC; her grandsons; Michael Dean Wallace and Justin Reid Wallace both of Piedmont, SC; her daughter-in-law; Anne Anderson of Mars Hill, NC; and her brother; Tom DuBose of Jackson, TN.The family respectfully invites family and friends to the graveside service for Mary Anderson on Friday, July, 5, 2019 at 11:00 am at the Greenlee Cemetery in Spruce Pine, NC with Rev. Mark Burchette officiating.
