Mary Magdalene Brown, age 82, of Spruce Pine died Thursday, April 6, 2017 at Brian Center Health and Rehab in Spruce Pine.Born on August 13, 1934 in McDowell County, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Ila Lowery Waycaster. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Collis L. Brown who passed away in 1996. She was also preceded in death by a son; Ronnie Brown; her sisters; Pansy Reece and Agnes Waycaster; and a brother; Lee Waycaster.Mary was a member of the Altapass Baptist Church and she loved the Lord. She also loved spending time reading the Bible every day. She was a friend to many and was loved by everyone that knew her. She enjoyed quilting and crocheting. Mary was one of the oldest people to successfully complete the G.E.D. program at Mayland Community College.Left to cherish her memories are her sons; Gary Brown and wife, Marian of Spruce Pine and Wayne Brown and wife, Katie of Burnsville; her grandchildren; Crystal Brown, Benjamin Brown and wife, Stacy; Brandon Brown and wife, Jessica; Joey Brown; Thomas Brown, Alex Brown and Kristi Goins; great grandchildren; Martina, Telia, Dakota, Jalen, Robert, Sam, and Casey; and there are two great great grandchildren.The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence at the funeral service of Mary Brown on Sunday, April 9, 2017 at 3:00 pm at the Altapass Baptist Church with Dr. Marcus Benfield, Dr. Rocky Branch, and Rev. Charles Adkins officiating. A time to support the family, share memories and receive friends will be on Sunday, April 9, 2017 from 2:00 pm until the service hour at the church.
