Mildred Stamey Hart, age 92, went to be with the Lord on January 20, 2021 at the John Keever, Jr. Solace Center in Asheville. She had suffered a stroke on the 9th. Born in Altamont, NC, she was the daughter of the late James Columbus Stamey and Dovie P. Stamey of Crossnore, NC. Mildred loved to bake cakes for neighbors, friends and family. In her younger years she managed Greyhound and Trailways Bus Terminals in Asheville. Later, she was a caregiver at Thom's Rehabilitation Center and operated a daycare for many young children in the East Asheville area. More than anything, she enjoyed visits from loving nieces, nephews and family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Ricky Ray Loudermelt of Asheville, NC; two sisters, Maxine Jones and husband, JB of West Asheville, NC and Melba McCloud and husband, Jack of Newland, NC; and two brothers, Junior Stamey and wife, Eileen, who still survives and Calvin Stamey, both of Pyatte, NC. She is survived by three sons: Johnny Hart, Michael Hart and wife, Pam, and Tony Hart and wife, Cindy; one daughter, Julie L. Maerkle and husband, Rick; six grandchildren; Rick Loudermelt, Jr. and wife, Deb, Scotty Loudermelt, Jessica Dunegan, Callie Hart, Gabby Hart and Garrett Hart; and one great-granddaughter, Madison Loudermelt. She is also survived by two sisters: Jean Hoffer, and Susie Lyman and husband, Myron. A small graveside service will be held at Elk Mountain Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery at 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 23, 2021 in Newland, NC. The family wishes to thank the staffs of Keever Solace Center and Webb Funeral Home for their care of Mildred.
