Mildred Ledford

Mildred Stewart Ledford, age 81, of George McKinney Circle, the Halltown community, passed away Saturday, December 25, 2021 at Care Partners Solace Center in Asheville.Born on September 5, 1940 in Mitchell County, she was the daughter of the late Dave and Laura Sparks Stewart. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Edward Ledford who passed away in 1993. Also preceding her in death were her sons; Eddie and Johnny Ledford and her granddaughter, Janie Buchanan.Mildred attended the Berry Chapel Baptist Church. She loved her dogs and taking care of her flowers. She also enjoyed listening to gospel music and working crossword puzzles.Left to cherish her memory is her daughter; Rhonda Wheeler and husband, Howard of Spruce Pine; her sons; David Ledford and wife, Linda of Spruce Pine and Scott Ledford and wife, Suzanne of Elk Park; her sister; Betty Pittman of Lenoir; her brothers; Bobby Sparks and Billy Stewart both of Lenoir; eighteen grandchildren; many great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.A time to support the family, share memories, and receive friends will be Friday, December 31, 2021 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am in the Chapel of Webb Funeral Home. The funeral service will be on Friday, December 31, 2021 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Webb Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve Williams officiating.
