Naomi P. Leamon, age 97, of N.C. 226-South, the Ledger community in Bakersville died Sunday, April 16, 2017 at Mitchell House Assisted Living in Spruce Pine.Born on October 10, 1919 in Sampson County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Alex and Kate Williams Peterson. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husbands, Ralph E. Fryar and Otto Leamon. She was preceded in death by a son; Ralph Fryar; a daughter; Katie Newell, her brothers; Alex and Jennings Peterson; and her sisters; Edith Reynolds, Ester Reed, Kathleen Shuler, and Margie Coker.Naomi was a member of the Grassy Creek Baptist Church and at one time served as the interim Adult Choir Director. She was a Sunday School Teacher at several churches that she attended throughout her life. Naomi was the former Director of the ‘Golden Age Singers’. She loved to read, crocheting, and particularly singing.Left to cherish her memories are her daughter; Edna Allen and husband, Talley of Lenoir, NC; her son; Rev. Calvin H. Fryar and wife, Ruth of Okeechobee, FL; her sister; Mary Anderson of Ft. Pierce, FL; a brother; Richard Peterson, there are thirteen grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence at the funeral service for Naomi Leamon on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at 3:00 pm at the Grassy Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Calvin H. Fryar officiating. A time to support the family, share memories and receive friends will be on Thursday, April 20, 2017 from 2:00 pm until the service hour at the church.
