Orpha L. Burleson

Orpha Lee Staton Burleson, 90, of Newland, NC died Saturday, January 7, 2017 at Cannon Memorial Hospital in Linville, NC.She was the daughter of the late Mack and Donna Buchanan Staton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Stewart Staton and her sister, Archie Mae Staton James.Born January 28, 1926, she was a lifelong resident of Avery County and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.She is survived by her husband of sixty-five years; Charles William Burleson of the home, two sons; Bill and wife, Martha of Elk Park and Jimmy Staton of the home, one grandson, Andrew Charles Burleson of Elk Park and several nieces and nephews.Funeral Services will be conducted on Tuesday, January 10, 2017at 7:00 pm at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Frank with the Rev’s. Alan Laws and Kenneth Lance officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 from 5:00 pm until the service hour at the church.
