Peggy Brinkley

December 23, 1933 - April 18, 2022

Peggy Howell Brinkley, 88, of the Snow Creek community passed away peacefully on Monday, April 18, 2022 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals in Asheville. She was the daughter of the late Arthur Arcemus Howell and Bonnie Renfro Howell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Reece Brinkley, who passed away in 2000; her brothers, Philip, Ward, Robert and Royce; and her sister, Elizabeth “Lib” Sams. Mrs. Brinkley was born and grew up at Green Mountain in Yancey County and resided in Bakersville, NC for sixty years. She was devout in prayer and a faithful member of Lily Branch Baptist Church, she attended Clearmont High School, and retired from Belk Department Stores. Left to cherish her memory is her daughter; Alicia Weeks and husband, Patrick of Raleigh, NC as well as three grandchildren; Morgan Best and husband, Josh of Cambridge, MA, Anna Quinlan and husband, Robert of Langley AFB, VA, and Jared Weeks of Raleigh, NC; one great-granddaughter; Delaney Reece Best. A time to support the family, share memories, and receive friends will be Saturday, April 23, 2022 from 11:00 am until 12:00 noon at Lily Branch Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 12:00 noon at Lily Branch Baptist Church with the Rev. Don Ford officiating. Interment will be in the Lily Branch Baptist Church Cemetery. At other times the family will be at Mrs. Brinkley’s home.
