Phillip Nelson Henline, Jr., age 93, of Biggerstaff Road in Spruce Pine, died Sunday, July 15, 2018 at the St. Joseph’s Campus of Mission Hospitals in Asheville.Born on August 31, 1924 in Mitchell County, he was the son of the late Phillip Nelson Henline, Sr. and the late Belle Sparks Henline. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Buchanan Henline who passed away in 2006. He was also preceded in death by his brother; Howard Henline and his sister; Barbara Gouge.Phillip was a member and deacon of the Beaver Creek Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Marines veteran of World War II. He owned and operated Henline Motor Company of Spruce Pine for over forty years. Phillip was a member of the Spruce Pine Lions Club for over sixty years and was a member of Vesper Masonic Lodge #554 A.F. and A.M for over sixty years also.Left to cherish his memories are his son; Mark Henline and wife, Frances of Crossnore and his granddaughter; Noelle Gates and husband, Samuel of Crossnore, several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence at the funeral service honoring the life of Phillip Henline on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at 6:00 pm at the Beaver Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Brandon Pitman officiating. A time to support the family, share memories and receive friends will be on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 from 5:00 pm until 6:00 pm at the church. Masonic Graveside rites will be conducted by Vesper Masonic Lodge #554 A.F. & A.M. Interment will follow in the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the Sgt. E.L. Randolph Chapter #57 D.A.V.
