Robert Ogle, age 89, of Thompson Road in Spruce Pine, passed away Monday, August 15, 2022 at Care Partner Solace Center in Asheville.Born on May 7, 1933 in Yancey County, he was the son of the late Landon and Eva May McClurd Ogle. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brothers; William, Earl, and Ralph Ogle; his sisters; Irene Banks, Agnes, and Effie; and his granddaughters; Heather Allen and Lovesia Woody.Robert was retired from the U.S. Air Force. Following his retirement from the U. S. Air Force, he was employed by Henredon Furniture where he later retired also. He was of the Baptist faith. He was known as a talented artist. He also enjoyed making furniture, metal detecting, any outdoor activity, camping and ginseng hunting. With anyone that he met and became acquainted, they became instant friends.Left to cherish his memory is his wife of sixty-five years; Georgia Burleson Ogle of the home; his sons; Mike Ogle and wife, Janie of Spruce Pine and Kenny Ogle of Spruce Pine; his daughter; Debbie Henson and husband, Sid of Spruce Pine; his grandchildren; Melonie Wright and husband, Rick, Jason Ogle, Jesse Craig, Melissa Cope, Jan Ogle, Elizabeth Ogle, Melanie Henson, and Matthew Henson; eighteen great grandchildren; and his brother; Charles Ogle of Utah.A time to support the family, share memories and receive friends will be on Saturday, August 20, 2022 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Webb Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm on Saturday, August 20, 2022 in the Chapel of Webb Funeral Home with Dr. Marcus Benfield officiating. Dad was the kindest, gentlest, and most generous person that i could have ever had as a father. He was a true friend to anyone that had the opportunity to meet him. I`m going to miss him so much. I’m sad to hear of Uncle Bobs passing. I’m one of the Sons of Charles and Donna Ogle. I’m grateful for Facebook because that was the only times I was able to communicate with him. I was able to visit NC and see the home the Ogle family grew up in and other family historical sites. Peace and prayers of comfort to all who grieve at Bobs passing.
