Waits Junior Freeman

Waits Junior Freeman, age 84, of Jarrett Road in Bakersville, the Ledger community, passed away on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at his home. Born on May 28, 1936 in Avery County, he was the son of the late Jesse and Pearl Holtsclaw Freeman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Gouge Freeman who passed away in 2020 and a brother; Bill Freeman and wife, Opal. Junior was a member of the Bear Creek Baptist Church. He enjoyed NASCAR racing and liked fishing. He was a dry wall installer and took great pride in his work. Although he was known as a quiet man, he had a great sense of humor and was very funny. He loved his wife and boys. Left to cherish his memories are his sons; Chris Freeman and wife, Brandy of Powdermill and John Justin Freeman of Bakersville; his brothers; Pete Freeman and wife, Charlotte and Jimmy Freeman and wife, Ella all of Powdermill; his sister; Shirley Warren and husband, Steve of Morganton; several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be on Sunday, March 21, 2021 at 3:00 pm at the Bear Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Bruce Cannon officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Webb Funeral Home to assist with funeral expense.
